Netflix's Stranger Things is launching its own NFT

NFTs are coming to the Upside Down

We are entering an exciting new era for NFTs.

Case in point: even the kids from Hawkins High are hawking their own non-fungible tokens.

That's right, Netflix's Stranger Things is partnering to launch NFTs for fans ahead of the fourth season. The site has been counting down to today.

It's an interesting example of this exciting next chapter of what NFTs can unlock, and how brands are creating experiences for their most engaged fans. In fact, super fans had to piece together a secret message from the trailer that corresponds to what the site's address is. Navigating there, you'll find a countdown clock and a prompt to enter your email.

According to the email the site sends, "Very soon, you’ll be able to immerse yourself in the mystery by decoding messages, solving puzzles, and even collecting rewards along the way." So ... sounds like some interactive stuff could potentially be coming for Stranger Things super fans.

Netflix's Stranger Things is launching its own NFT

To do so, it appears Netflix has partnered with Candy Digital, a startup backed by the founder of Fanatics, Michael Rubin, Galaxy Digital's Mike Novogratz and serial entrepreneur Gary Vaynerchuk. Candy has already been putting out digital collectible baseball NFTs after inking a partnership with Major League Baseball.

In any case, it's an exciting experiment to watch play out and follows in the vein of some other experiments that have been popping up around fan engagement. In another example earlier this year, crypto giant FTX partnered with Coachella to put out NFTs as lifetime passes that also unlock exclusive in-person experiences. It's the future. And speaking from first-hand experience, some exciting things in media are on the horizon when it comes to audiences collectively owning the shows they love.

What will the Stranger Things NFTs bring? The clock is counting down to 8PM EST today.
